I have created this blog to record and share our planning and travel experiences as we take on a low budget, long term, trip to India and Southeast Asia. A lot of research and budget planning has gone into this project so far and I will share this in the coming weeks.
The basic goal is to travel from the USA to India for the first 5 months and then spend the second 5 in Malaysia (including Sarawak), Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam and return to USA within a fairly small budget. I am a photographer and I hope to capture Asian wildlife and also record our experiences along the way. My wife enjoys the cultural aspects of foreign countries and so we will be immersing ourselves as deep as possible in these most interesting and complex cultures of Southeast Asia.
In subsequent posts I will share also the resources we have used for research and which books and websites we have found useful so far.
Our departure date is 20 August 2014.
